For the Week

My focus has been off lately.  They say 'don't sweat the small stuff' but that's more easily said than done.  Isn't it the little irritations of daily life that get us so worked up?  It makes me think of the song lyric 'where is the love, the love, the love?'  Well I can surely tell you, don't look to me.
The ultimate show of love should be our focus and is found on the Cross.  Why did Jesus have to die?  We are born with a separated relationship to God because of our sin and sin nature.  Jesus was the innocent sacrifice who paid our sin debt with His blood.  There is no forgiveness without a blood sacrifice,  the Bible says.
So when you're critical of others, remember how much it cost to forgive you.  We all fall short  and need a Savior who forgives all.

  1. Amen Sista! Distractions are such a temptation. Maybe that's why we are told to pray without ceasing...in order to help keep our mind in the right place and to keep our priorities straight. I hope you are still healthy. You are so smart to stay in these past couple weeks though I'm sure you're itching to get out!! Love you! Betsy

  2. It's true. I need Him every day and on some days lately, every minute. We are doing a study by Jennifer Rotschild about doing a make over for your mental closet... So far, I get the basic idea but my mental closet is still jumbled with a lot of things, including irritability. I think it's easier to tidy up a walk-in closet, personally.... /=

  3. When the grandkids get fussy over something, like a dinner that they don't like, they begin to complain, and Buster often looks at them and says, "Life is good. We have food on the table, shelter over our heads, and a family who loves us. Life is good!" Indeed, if we can get past the minor irritations and look to the blessings that God has bestowed, "Life is good!" Thanks for the good reminder, Angie.

  4. We need to focus on Him as you say, However that is hard to do, as we let the small stuff get in the way. Is this life a test? Do we need to focus for 40-90 years and then get a reward of eternity? It seems from that prospective that is should not be very hard. Dad

  5. My devotional today in Jesus Calling was about how Jesus is constantly reading our minds. Wow, what a comeuppance did I have! As I stated on FB, that made me want to constantly praise Him and tell Him how much I trust Him. Those distractions are tough, but if we try to stay focused on His goodness to us, and be ever so thankful for it, we would do better. Lord, help me to be a kinder, gentler child of yours....and one who is much sweeter when I am stressed or interruped by such silly, immaterial things. Love you, Angie....T.
