Called to Serve

Saturday!!!

Who hasn't had this feeling come across them?  You just sat down from getting all your stuff done and then you get called to do for someone else.  Too busy, too tired, too much for me?  We can always find an excuse but aren't we called to serve others?  Yes, 'serve one another in love.' Galatians 5;13.  Who is the greatest example of service... Jesus.  'The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.' Mark 10:45
Whether we get an actual phone call of a need or just a whisper from the Holy Spirit, we should listen to that voice and act on it.  If you don't do anything for others, you may just serve as a warning to others on how not to be.
The members of our body work together as a whole and so should the body of believers. Asking for help is a humbling act in itself so a gracious 'of course, I can' is the best response.  Remember, the chair will be there when you return but serving opportunities may only knock once at your heart door.

  2. I love what my friend LaJuana says: "I'll have all of eternity to relax; while I'm here I'm going to serve Jesus." Thanks for the painful but motivating reminder, Angie!

  3. Ok, well I do tell my kids that I am "off duty" sometimes after they have been put to bed (once or twice) and still wanting things from me. But, I do completely agree with you. Serving others should be our priority...not self- service.

  4. Don't EVEN get me started. Excuses not to serve are one of my pet peeves....that is, unless I am the one making the excuse. We are studying James right now in our CBF Women's Bible Study and being reminded that "faith without works is dead". We are also gearing up for Be The Church on August 5 where we serve the community in all kinds of ways. A young girl spoke this morning about serving and her message was so powerful. She said that, "serving others is doing what we say we believe." Wow! How good is that! We can talk about it all day long, but actions have ALWAYS spoken louder than words! We need to be do-ing.....we need to be serve-ing! I told you not to get me started. Love you, T.
