Crossroads

“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!''
 Jeremiah 6;16

''God warns us against misguided desires, because sinful passions can lead to emptiness, suffering, disappointment, pain, and even death. Wise believers let the Father direct their yearnings--and then make changes if necessary.'' [intouch.org]

Are you feeling run over?  Does the path you're on seem to be getting you no where?  We often make choices based just on what we want.  We may know the right thing to do but that might require more than we want to give of ourselves.
Yes, it takes effort to get yourself to church on Sunday morning, when the bed feels so comfortable.  Yes, giving your tithe may require you to do without a few luxuries.  Yes, your time doing good deeds could be spent in other ways more to your liking.  Yes, it's not easy to stand firm and not follow peer pressure when you know it's wrong but don't see the immediate harm.
Is the Cross calling you at a crossroad?  Whenever we start trying to convince ourselves that something wrong is okay, it's probably not the way to go.  The right way is always God's way.  As in this caption, the godly way is solid, firm and your way will lead to destruction.

  1. We are all at a crossroad, some are bigger than others and have bigger consequences. Choose your road carefully, one if to the right way and one is to the wrong way. Dad

  2. What a wonderful post, Angie! Thank you so much for the great encouragement to take the old and weather beaten path of God's highway. It is so much easier to stay on the interstate and not have the issues of stops and bumps along the way, but there's no question that it's God's way that leads us home.
