Happy, Despite the Situation

Pinned Image

I thought this was a great quote to share. I think it's a good one to remember and live out. The sermon at my church last night was on 'your breaking point.'  In Joshua 7;6-9,  Joshua asks God why He didn't just leave well enough alone.  We often do that.  We say if I hadn't of done what I thought You wanted then this wouldn't of happened. For example, saying if I had not have tried to go to church then I wouldn't of had that wreck.  Our breaking points can be big or small.  We must trust in God's grace and mercy to see us thru it.
We visited a friend today who has just went on hospice care due to cancer.  What a good attitude she had today that was probably displayed as much for our sake as her own.  I'm sure she is trying to enjoy this time as much as possible but is also comforted and happy to know she's headed to the Promised Land soon.
To see past our troubled situations and be joyful thru it, we must hand it all over to Him.  Psalm 68:19 'Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.'

  2. I love that verse....and I also love I Peter 5:7.."Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you." Your friend reminds me of one of Mrs. Warlick's friends. When she was diagnosed with lung cancer (she never smoked a day in her life!), she called Mrs. Warlick and said, "I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have been told that I have lung cancer. The good news is that I will be seeing my Saviour very soon." What an attitude...what a positive outlook. I used to tell my mother, who dealt with depression her entire life, that happiness is a choice. She was a precious Christian woman but felt the need to worry about everything. We can be miserable in our circumstances or we can choose to trust God and make the best of every situation. As I have grown older and had more trials, I realize that is easier said than done....but with God's help can still be done! "Be anxious about nothing, but in all things give thanks....."...you know the rest. Wish I could live by this every single day of my life. He knows the plans He has for us....there are so many Scriptures to claim if we would just go there first and not to our own "breaking points". After all, He is so much stronger than we ever thought about being! Headed to Branson today, girlfriend...pray we have a safe and "healthy" trip! Love you, T.

  3. Angie- one of the best things is a CD of hymns about going to Heaven - beulah Land, etc. Ruth Graham said that she had a lot of them made for her mother to listen to whle she was bedfast for the last time and her mother really enjoyed hearing the hymns.
    Sorry about your friend. nancy
