Good Grief

charlie brown
Proverbs 4;24 '' Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. ''

Even Charlie Brown got frustrated with himself, other people and life itself.  The harshest words out of his mouth though were 'GOOD GRIEF.'  These are two of my favorite words to express dissatisfaction.  We should work on our patience skills to not let things get to us so but we are human.  To use perverse language tho shows not only a lack of vocabulary but also the lack of discipline in your tongue.  There is nothing in bad language that benefits you or glorifies God.  It is just a gateway left open for the devil to wreck havoc.  Movies that are rated R for pervasive language is a warning to you that it is filled with corrupt language throughout.  Avoid being subjected by the media or acquaintences that have a filthy mouth because you don't want to lose sensitivity to its destructive influence on you.
Psalm 19:14 ''May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.''

  1. I love those two words too! I also love what Paul Eels used to say after a Razorback touchdown..."OH MY". That was usually for a good thing, but it can also be for frustration or dissatisfaction, rather than using profanity or vulgarity. Love your blog and love your scripture reference....such a sweet prayer to be pleasing to God with our thoughts and our words. Thank you, Angie...love you, T.

  2. You reminded me of my aunt who said "make my words taste like honey, for tommorrow I may have to eat them".
I wish I could use "good grief" more.

  3. One of my friends told her kids when they wanted to go see a movie that had "just a little" bad language in it that she had some brownies for them. The brownies had sugar, chocolate, nuts, and "just a little" manure in them... :)

  4. I also like "fiddlesticks"....an old term, but much better than some of the words spoken today. Besides, it works well for us old(er) people, LOL! Love you, T.

  5. I like Cathie's comment! I have a 2 year old "holy" spirit in the house that tells me every time she thinks I am saying something that isn't good. She informed me tonight that I said a bad word. I didn't think it was, but if she does..... It's so important that we be a good example not only to our little ones but to others around us, as well. I find that when I speak words that don't honor the Lord, it is His reputation through me that is damaged in the eyes of others. Thanks for another convicting post, Angie
