Leaders

Be a Leader

I thought it was appropriate that I heard the song 'Every body wants to rule the world' on the radio today, since it is election day.  I hope this day proves to be one in which voters chose people with both moral and ethical values that are rooted in Christian beliefs to be our local leaders.
''[ Submission to Governing Authorities ] Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.''  Romans 13
''Leadership has been described as "a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task".''  That social influence is achieved by action and example.  A good leader is true to his word, follows thru with his promises and looks out for the benefit of others.
May the leaders chosen today with our votes lead us to a future with brighter tomorrows.

  2. I'm pleased with the way the elections turned out. But people are fickle. If things don't go well in the next two years, the public will can easily swing back in the other direction. So we'll have to pray for those leaders, something I confess that I am not good at doing. It's easier for me to pray for family and friends than for political people whose image is just a media soundbite or a poster in my mind. But I think prayer is more critical than ever.
