so sad

Today I went to funeral of my friend, Dot Sturdy.  She was one half of a loving couple who were regular greeters at my former church.  She was beautiful both inside and out.  I will always remember her kind and loving words on those Sunday mornings.
As I read the poem above, I think of God's forgiveness and how we are to follow His example.  Love doesn't keep a record of wrongs.  Why do we in life harbor bitterness and in the end realize what time we lost?
Our memories are our own...nobody can change them or take them.  You choose what to remember.  We all want to be remembered well so forget the petty stuff that doesn't amount to a hill of beans.  Love one another in both thought and deed.

  1. It's true. And memory is a very powerful tool which can be used for our good or for our detriment. BEst to place them in the hands of God who knows how to erase our sins from HIs mind and who wrote the book, literally, on forgiveness.

  2. I love the poem, memories is all we really have remember the good stuff.
    Love Dad

  3. The hardest thing for me is remembering the good things that I have done or said to those who have passed on. I remember every little thing that could have been hurtful or that I didn't "do" that I should have. I have had to learn how to not only remember the good in departed loved ones, but also the good that I did while they were living.

  4. i AM SO GLAD YOU GOT TO GO, I was with Bud all afternoon as usual,
but I would like to have gone also to give John one of his big hugs.
    She was special.
    Love Nancy

  5. What an encouragement this was to me when i read this today! The lord must have put it on your heart just for me angie. Thank you! Oh, and lovin the foto fridays

  6. What a sweet tribute to Dot. As you know, I was there, too, and remembered her sweet expressions and loving spirit. I served on the CBF Frontline team with her for many years, and she was always so faithful. I have been to four funerals this week. I loved your was so appropriate for every one of those I was remembering. Pray it will be appropriate for me too. Love you, sweet friend....T.
