Take Care Of

Take care of your #thoughts and your #words #Corinthians #Proverbs…More at http://beliefpics.christianpost.com/

How true I think this caption is worthy to be applied in our daily lives.  I think we often talk to ourselves or about ourselves in a negative manner that we wouldn't dare say to anyone else.  I think being comfortable and confident in your own skin begins with the conversation with you have with yourself.
Our thoughts are also not all meant to become words.  Just because you think it, doesn't mean you have to say it.  The frontal lobe of your brain is where your filter that prompts your use of discretion is located.  Some must have brain damage there because they have no inhibitions in what they say or do.  ''The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.''
One of the fruits of the Spirit is self control.  Often our thoughts become our words so we must take care of both of them with self control.

  1. So true! I used to tell my think-it-say-it students that they didn't have to be like a gum ball machine where the penny drops and the gum falls out.

  2. And I have said to my family so many times over the years, "It's not what you say; it's how you say it." That frontal lobe's filter must also determine how to say some things that may need to be said--in truth, but for sure, also in love. Good reminder.

  3. If i had a $ for every time I told one of my family members to "filter"...I would be a wealthy woman. And if I had a $ for every time I should have filtered and didn't...I'd be an even wealthier woman. Remember that little song, "Be careful little mouth what you say. For the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little mouth what you say."

  4. Really?! Just because I think it, I don't have to say it?!! Wow, do I ever need to remember that!! And yes, the filter thing.....that slight inflection in the voice can totally change how someone interprets the meaning of your statement. Wow, that tongue again....what a mess it can get us into. I had to have my tongue clipped when I was a little girl, as I was what they used to call "tongue-tied"...maybe they should have left it alone!! Love you, T.
