It's a God Thing
A good night's sleep is 'a God thing.' Did you catch it in the verse above? The Lord 'only' gives peace and safety so that we can sleep with ease. We have to do our part by laying our burdens on Him. Don't we all have restless nights when we have anxious thoughts? We can only have peace when we trust that He will take care of things with our good in mind. '' And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.'' I read that 'worry is believing God's plan is not good enough to be trusted.' Whoa, I thought, that kind of bites. There really is no way to justify our doubts.
May we all sleep purrrrr-fectly tonight, despite all the reasons why we could worry and just hand them over to Him.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs. Why don't we believe this? Well its bed time and I am looking forward to a purrrrfect night of sleep. Dad
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about these things today - worry versus trust. And Charity and I used the Proverbs verse this morning. Your timing is good, Angie!
ReplyDeleteThank God He gives His beloved sleep, and I thank God that in spite of my sinful self, I am His beloved. Many times He has comforted my soul during times of anxious thoughts. How humbling to know that He is mine and I am His, and so undeservedly so on my part.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I know when I am filled with anxious thoughts I do NOT sleep in perfect peace. Here's to casting all anxiety on Him.
ReplyDeleteWith all we have going on right now, I have not been sleeping well this week. Have awakened and arisen at various hours during the night and decided God was telling me to pray. In fact, I had just prayed for Mrs. Warlick's peaceful passing when I got the phone call that she has gone to meet Jesus. What a precious answer to prayer. God is so good! Last night I slept like a baby and it was wonderful! Trying to worry less and trust more....love you, my friend. T.
ReplyDeleteI am so often guilty of worry in the way you describe. If we don't believe that God is both all powerful and good.....there is a lot to worry about, but may the Lord continue to show us that He is both.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Mary
