His Promises

Luke 1:45
''Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

Psalm 119:140
''Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.''

Psalm 145:13
''Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.''

Even with verses to assure us, we are still vulnerable to doubt?  Like the song goes, 'Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.'  It is not easy to surrender your will to His but when you do then you can truly rest in His promises.
When things are good and going your way it is easy to say 'Yes, God is good to me.'  When things go wrong or not like you think they should, we can too easily fall into Peter's way of thinking.  Luke 22:34  'Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”'  We say we wouldn't ever do that, but if push came to shove, we must confess we are so weak.  God gives us verses like these to renew and strengthen our faith so that when life throws us curveballs, we won't be knocked down.
'When I am cast down in spirit and soul, He whispers sweet peace to me.'

  1. Beautiful. I love God's promises--they are always encouraging and great to reflect upon when you are having difficult times. Mom

  2. Wonderful words of encouragement. It seems that when I am down I trust God more than when things are all okay. I pray that if the time ever comes that my faith is tested to the max, I will lean on, and not away from Him. God forbid that I should ever deny Him, but I know my frailty, so I must cling closely.
