Forgiveness

So cute!

Psalm 130;3-4  ''If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?  But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.''

This was one of the verses in my daily Bible reading today and I thought this caption went well with it.  I think this verse not only points out our sinful nature but the forgiving nature of God.  There is no one but God that is good so we need His saving grace.  His love for us keeps no record of wrongs.  We want that kind of forgiveness for ourselves but do we give it to others?  I read yesterday that 'forgiveness is a promise not to use the sin/hurt against them in the future.'  Woah, now.  I've forgiven people of things but to never ever recall it to them.. hmm, can I do that?  How can we ask for what we're not willing to give to others?  You can't.  We are to forgive just like God has forgiven us.
We are like this little kitten.  We know what we've done and the guilt can hold us back.  Forgiveness can free us from those burdens.  Aren't you glad that with a repentant heart God will not turn from us in continued anger?  Have you ever thought  'well sorry, just isn't good enough.'  We can never repay our debt of sin ourselves with good works, good behavior, or good words.  The Law in the Old Testament could never be lived up to.  Only one way was our debt paid, Jesus' death on the cross.
Acts 13;38  “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.''

  1. 70 times 7. Even if that was all the times (490) that Jesus meant when He said that, how many of us could forgive for the same offense that many times? You're right, Angie. Only through the grace of God are we able to forgive. Good post, and a good thing to keep in mind as we go about our daily lives.

  2. It is easier for us to forgive, than to forget. We keep record of wrong doing, don't we. Dad

  3. I like the quote :forgiveness is a promise not to use the sin/hurt against them in the future." I've never heard it put that way before. Thanks.

  4. Very powerful....and ouch! I need to apply this every day. To forgive like Jesus does....what an accomplishment that would be. Yet, we desire it, so why shouldn't we be willing to give it? I pray I will continue to grow in this area...and not just forgive any wrongdoing, but forget it too. Love you, dear friend....T.

  6. So grateful for His forgiving love. Good word and encouragement to extend that forgiveness to others. Often easier said than done.
