Ugliness Revealed
''God don't like ugly.''
Yesterday we were in downtown LR to run a couple of errands. While I was waiting in the van with my mask on, a couple of ladies went together to pay the parking meter. They were dressed really nice and were laughing and smiling. One of the two, walked my way and her smile instantly went to a snobbish frown as she looked at me. Right then and there, she turned as ugly as the wicked witch of the west. Who I just had thought was pretty had just shown her ugly heart.
You may think 'well she just doesn't know you or understand' but when God said 'love your neighbor', He didn't add limits. Lots of people smile, wave or nod when given the same opportunity.
We often get caught up in how we look in our clothes and makeup, but our true colors are revealed by the compassion of our heart.

Many years ago I remember doing an ice breaker activity on a day when more than half my sophomore class was gone on a field trip for science. The 6 or 7 kids I had left in my class circled their desks around mine and I read off some typical Teen age interest questions which theytook turns answering. I remember vividly reading one question: On what basis do you choose your friends?" And I remember being shocked when one girl answered: "by the type of purse they carry and the shoes they wear." I thought she was kidding until her friend, who was also in the group, said, "I knew that was what you were going to say!" Both were serious. Many years later I ran into the girl who was so hung up on accessories. She was working at a business and was stylishly dressed but about 10 min. conversation revealed she was just as shallow as ever. LIfe has a way of doing a number on our exteriors and I often wonder how these people cope when the stretch marks come, the face wrinkles, the bladder drops, and the knees creak... I think Paul had it right when he wrote in II Cor. 4 :16 that though our outer man is decaying (not might decay but IS decaying) - that our inner man is being renewed. I'm sorry that those ladies couldn't see the beauty that you radiate. Their loss.
ReplyDeleteThat woman missed out, unfortunately, on greeting one of the most beautiful women I have ever been privileged to know, mask or no mask. How I pity her! I wonder how many joys we lose in life by giving up instant opportunities to both bless and be blessed in return. God help her and the rest of us to see life as He seas it.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to run into her any time soon. Pitty she didn't know what a jewel she was snobbing her nose at. Sad that some people can not appreciate anyone who is different from their cookie cutter image of what they accept. They miss out on the truly great relationships.
ReplyDeleteRomans 12:19 "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord." As you said in your last caption "I can't wait to see what God does with this".. Love you ....Dad
