Who Saw That?
I think one of the most embarrassing yet humbling things in life is falling down in front of people. If I've fallen once in my life, I've fallen a hundred times or more. You want to jump up as fast as basketball players do on the court but that's rarely the case. It's more like a slow motion film that everyone is glued to.
One time as I was going into the post office in Arlington, TX, I tripped and fell. The long line of people who were waiting to mail there packages then formed a circle around me. The stares and questions were enough to make me want to be swallowed up by a sinkhole at the moment. Getting up and out of there was all I cared about.
It's probably a good thing for us all to have a goof up every once in a while to remind us not to be too proud of ourselves. I guess the crowd watching increases the rate of humility for us.
