''It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.'' Deuteronomy 13;4
There have been times in my life where I loved the need for speed feeling, like driving, but then there were times for the slowness of a snail's pace, like walking. No matter what our speed is, if we are going in the wrong direction, we are still lost.
I think there are those with map skills and those who just need to use it as a tablecloth in the car. The map and navigation by the passenger can be a catalyst to road rage, so beware and turn on the GPS.
Who is your guide in life? The Bible is our map with directions. We often want to trust ourselves, but that is foolishness in action. We need to slow down and see if our thoughts are in agreement with His Word. Many of our mistakes are due to our rush to respond without thinking it thru first.
May we all consider not only where we are headed, but where we have been.
I am one who needs to use a map as a table cloth in the car. I think Santa is going to bring me a GPS for Christmas...
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, the older I get, the more I realize I need to sit and soak in the Word, prayerfully ask for guidance and try to follow where God leads. I often wonder: what if I had done this when I was in my twenties and thirties? But at least I'm doing it now.
I'm reminded of the passage that says, "Be still, and know that I am God," and then of other passages where God told the Israelites to get up and get going. Whether we are being still and waiting on God or getting off our duffs and doing what He has already told us to do, the important thing is to obey. Good post.
ReplyDeleteGood post and good comments by Cathy and Gloria. I am one who needs to be still and listen more and think before acting. Mom
