Pause

.

In this world, we often react too quickly to just about everything.  Pause should be a common word to us, not a foreign word.  What's the rush?  Where's the fire?  Taking a moment can prevent impulsive reactions that do more harm than good.
Even in the Psalms, the word 'Selah' means pause and praise.  Selah occurs 71 times in the Psalms.  It means take the time to consider what you just read.  Pausing stresses the importance of the meaning of the words David wrote.
If we would stop our own line of thinking and pause to get God's direction, then we would lead more peaceful lives.  I'm not saying it's easy not to be trigger happy with our words but it would be better.
You can't spell 'pause' without the 'use'... coincidence, I think not.

  2. Ditto, Wayne!! You are so smart, Angie. I think the word "pause" must come from the root of the word "patience". I am good at neither, but I am learning from your blog (and from the Bible) that I need to practice being good at both! I should have read this yesterday when I certainly did not pause when I should have. And I love that we should pray when we pause! Love you, T.

  3. Indeed, a pause in action or thought would be most helpful many times in my life. And oh, to pray during that pause. I, like Twylia, needed that yesterday. Thanks for the reminder, Angie.

  5. Angie, A friend of ours says his boss once told him he should “taste his words before he spits them out”. Good advice we can all benefit from. Robbie
