Way Back Wednesday-- A New Start
This is on the beach in San Diego, 1991, shortly after getting married. A picnic on the beach at sunset in California, could it be any better? My hopes and dreams were coming true and my rose colored glasses saw nothing but good. I was starting a new part of my life and yet 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.' —Genesis 28:16
When we become believers, we embark on our new lives in Christ. We have a new outlook full of hope and a promise of eternity. We must remember we are still sinners and trials will come. The honeymoon ends and real life sets in. Those trials shape us into who were meant to be in the transformation of ourselves into Christ's image. They are not easy to endure but His grace is sufficient.
From a friend, ''We are HIS and we must desire His plan and way for our lives. Oh, what a warning this is to all of us to "be careful to do all that is written therein"--to obey God's directive for our lives.'' We must let go of our old self ways and start fresh in our born-again lives. The Lord is with us all the way.

What a great word of encouragement....and a very appropriate title. I truly need it this week....been a very difficult one. Have to keep focusing on Christ and know that NOTHING is too big for Him to get us through. Love you, dear friend....T.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture and the blog... You can see the hope in your face but, as you said, the honeymooon ends and the shaping begins. He is the potter and we are the clay.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful picture, I remember some of the dreams you had, you were so excited to be a newlywed, every thing was going your way, you wanted fresh cut flowers on your table every day you thought this was close to heaven. Reality sets in and twenty plus years have passed and now you have been tested, given tough trials and hardships to endure in the molding process for heaven when He calls. Eternity is forever. Love you, Dad
ReplyDelete"...we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal...." Thanks for reminding us of this Angie...may all of your hardships here and now achieve for you a future glory which "far outweighs them all."
ReplyDeleteoops....forgot to identify myself...that last comment was by Mary;-)
ReplyDeleteAlex and I were talking yesterday about the "hope that lies within us," and Praise God, as His children we may be assured of that blessed hope. We may go into the unknown with as much confidence as we have had in the past. Our shattered dreams are good reminders once again that this world is not our home, and everything that happens here is preparation for eternity. And yet we often need that reminder. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes Angie, the Lord is with us all the way. If only I can grab hold of that for today. Have a good one! Joel
