Way Back Wednesday.....A Good Start
Here I am at age 3. This is one of my favorite pictures because I love pigtails. It took me until 2 to get any hair to speak of, so by 3 I had enough to put up with a cute style.
In my daily Bible reading today was Psalm 119;9-10 ''How can those who are young keep their way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.''
My church life began at First Freewill Baptist in Conway but I was too young to remember that. I only know of what I've been told, which was that I used to ask the preacher if I could sing to the congregation after each Sunday or Wednesday night sermon. After we moved to Sherwood, we attended Freewill Baptist in Jacksonville. I remember loving children's church. We learned Bible story songs like 'Lil Zacheus up in a tree' and 'Build your house on the Rock.' We had puppet shows with messages about how to get along with others and sharing the Word. I think it is a fundamental building block to take children to church so to begin their life's journey with a firm foundation. It teaches them that church is part of life and not a now and then activity. Also reading Bible stories to them at home is a good practice. I don't know why but my favorite was the one with baby Moses in the basket.
Proverbs 22:6 ''Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.''

If you're not the cutest, I don't know who is! (Except for one of my kids or grandkids maybe.) Good word, Angie.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, one of my favorites, I did not know you learned so much in church as a child you never talked much about what you learned. You really have to watch out for the quite ones, they know a lot. Dad
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute!

You look like your daddy in that picture! Love the dog-ears. So true, we should have our kiddos in church and be training them in the word at home. Maggie likes the story of the blind man. Someone LOVED the story of the plagues...but I got tired of reading "Let my people go" Pharoe said "NO". ;)
