The Train is Coming
So yesterday my dad was going to take me to check out the new yogurt shop, Tutti Fruitti. [awesome] As we backed out of the carport, I could see a tall Jack Russell-like dog running down the street. My dad said, oh he runs up and down the street all the time. So okay, I figure the dog is alright. Then my dad stops at the end of the driveway to get the mail. The dog is now in the middle of the road, distracted by looking at my dad and unaware of the full speed van headed towards him. OH MY GOODNESS! was all I could think as I dreaded the thought closing in. The dog moved just in time and my fears were relieved.
I think that sets up a good analogy about unbelievers. Unbelievers don't even notice the death train coming straight at them because they are so distracted by the world. Many think they can put off the decision and be saved just in the nick of time. That is not a gamble worth taking. You're betting all of eternity and more with that wager.
It's better to get on the train that's headed toward you and go on to a better place, than to just be hit by the train and be no more. The train will come for each of us, are you ready to get on board today?
Eva Cassidy sings a great song, 'People Get Ready' ... click this link to listen to it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnjMnSkPQXM
As always, what a great analogy, Angie. And I LOVE the song. This post reminded me of Gray....he loves railroad tracks....there is one right in front of his house and I have a picture of him standing on it. However, the sad thing is he is one of those who is not ready to get on board. Please pray for him. Love you, sweet girl...Twylia
ReplyDeleteAngie, Twylia is right--that's a GREAT analogy. And I am praying for Gray, as well. Have been for years. I trust that someday he will board the glory-bound train. Other loved ones are on that track, too, and my prayer is that I will see them in heaven. Thanks for the wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteAnother great post. The song was great too. Praying for more loved ones to board that train. Some can't get the ticket because they trust in themselves too much instead of trusting the Lord. Mom
ReplyDeleteAngie that's a great reminder to remind others today about eternity. Thanks for the blog. Joel.
