Prayer Order
This caption reminded me that we should put our needs and wants last when we pray. There is a simple acronym, ACTS, to help us remember everything to pray for.
A-Adoration. We should praise God for who He is. That He is just and never changing.
C-Confession Recognize your sinful faults and nature and ask for forgiveness. 'Renew in me a steadfast heart.'
T-Thanksgiving Count your blessings. Be grateful for another day of life. Thank Him for the hills and the valleys of your journey.
S-Supplication Tell of both your needs and those of others. Be specific, expectant and submissive.
The Bible points out that our prayers are often ineffective because we don't pray under the right conditions. James 4;3 ''When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.''
I know how the little creature feels...:)
ReplyDeleteDitto, Cathie! Again, so, so good, Angie. I remember this ACTS acronym, too, although I do not always abide by it. Should though. God definitely deserves our adoration first and foremost. And we definitely need to confess our sins before Him (and others that we have sinned against) before we ask for His blessings. It seems many times we ask for forgiveness at the end of our prayers, rather than at the beginning. You ALWAYS have the best blogs....so applicable to my life. Thank you so much for continuing to bless (and convict) us every day....we need it. Love you....have a GREAT weekend. T.
ReplyDeleteGood reminder, Angie. How often we forget that it is He who made us, and not we ourselves (Psalm 100,) and our joyful noise should first be to Him. I found myself lying in bed this morning praying about other things before I acknowledged the One who made the morning.
ReplyDeleteVery good practical blog, young readers should learn "ACTS"
ReplyDeleteBe percise, don't ramble.
