Others First
Putting the needs of others before our own is a way of showing grace and kindness. It will make you feel good too. I visited a friend yesterday who recently had a baby and has been cooped up for a while. I certainly know how that feels,[the cooped up part..lol], and the good feeling that a little company brings. Yes, it was pouring down with rain yesterday and her house is not the easiest to get into for me. I gladly did it for her and the rewards for me were joy-filled.
If you question doing something for someone that may take a lil extra effort, ask yourself 'would you want them to do it for you?' Giving someone a ride, giving to the love offering, or visiting someone in the nursing home are just a few examples of doing your part to sacrifice a little of you for someone else.
The ultimate grace was shown to us when God sent His Son to save us from sin. If we truly want to be like Him, then we will think and act with grace by putting others before ourselves.
Conviction, conviction, conviction! I need to go visit my friend Marilyn and my neighbor Francille down the street, and I'm leaving tomorrow and have a full day. Maybe I can at least visit Francille and call Marilyn. Conviction, conviction! And thanks for visiting my daughter. I got to enjoy the visit, too! Love you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sacrificing for me! I LOVED having you here. It was so good to have my sweet friend for company. And, yeah, our house isn't very accessible, is it? Next time, we'll come visit you.
ReplyDeleteoh i wouldnt call it a 'sacrifice'. i was hoping it wouldnt come across like that. im just saying we can use the simplest reasons/excuses not to do something. i LOVED coming over n i WILL be back..lol.
ReplyDeleteGloria is SO RIGHT.....your post today is SO convicting. Now God is speaking to me through the writing and wisdom of my sweet friend, Angie. I wanted to come see you this week, but this sinus infection kept me away. And I have not even seen baby Vance yet. I do not want to expose any of you to ANYTHING. I should be good and well by our dinner date!! Love you, T.
